Job Description

Summary

The Customer Logistics Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations at the Logistics Service Center (LSC) for a specific department. High customer contact and involvement are required for this position. Supervise Team Leader(s) and warehouse staff. This position will report to the Logistics Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide a strong management presence in the warehouse, actively resolving issues, assisting employees, and leading process improvements.

  • Process customer orders productively and accurately,

  • Meet or exceed customer service level expectations within budgeted guidelines.

  • Attend and present at customer meetings, representing Ryder in a professional manner.

  • Conduct warehouse quality/accident/injury investigations and establish root cause/corrective action.

  • Serve as the primary contact for customer service issues related to assigned operational areas.

  • Review process breakdowns/deficiencies using root cause analysis and establish/implement corrective action.

  • Conduct hourly reviews and coaching of assigned warehouse employees.

  • Ensure that all required operational reports are completed in a timely manner.

  • Provide management coverage as required in other areas of the operation.

  • Ensure employees are safe and properly trained in departmental / warehouse processes.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Customer service oriented with continuous process improvement management approach.

  • Strong skills in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel, and experience using SAP functionality.

  • Good communication and analytical skills.

  • Reliable and proactive problem-solver and decision-maker.

  • Supervisory / management experience in the warehousing and or logistics industry.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, written and customer interface skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications and SAP.

  • Prefer 3-5 years supervisory experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse industry or related field.
