The Logistics Safety Manager is responsible to manage all safety, health and security activities associated with the efficient operation of accounts.

Essential Functions

  • Safety, Health, and Security Management:

  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain OSHA logs and regulatory documentation

  • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations

  • Prepare applicable Health and Safety reports as necessary

  • Provide assistance and advice on Health and Safety issues to make recommendations to facility management

  • Participate in detailed incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis

  • Promote a Zero Incident Mindset Safety Culture

  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant Health and Safety Training

  • Leads by example, encourage a safe working environment, and correct obvious hazards immediately or report them to the proper personnel

  • Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance

  • Maintain positive and proactive relationships with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies

  • Comply with all Ryder Company Health and Safety procedures and policies

  • Ability to help maintain and oversee Workers’ Compensation on a location level

Facility and Operations Specific Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Walk warehouse floors and assembly operations to establish Health and Safety presence

  • Conduct daily and monthly Health and Safety meetings/trainings and schedule as needed

  • Write, implement, and manage Health and Safety Programs, Policies, and Procedures

  • Evaluate and ensure proper use of PPE

  • Oversee Hazardous Materials training and compliance for warehouse operations

  • Assist with Ergonomic Program

  • Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment

  • Help develop Job Hazard Analysis

  • Train and maintain a material handling training and compliance program

  • Assist in start-ups or new Program installation with Ryder and Customer

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

  • Have knowledge and enforce compliance of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA (Federal and State), DOT, etc.


  • Bachelor's degree required in business, logistics, transportation. A combination of other education and experiences will be considered.

  • Five (5) years or more in the management of warehouse and/or transportation operations required
