The Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading, motivating and fostering a safety-conscious culture in the workplace to reduce accidents and injuries. They will promote the continuous improvement of facility safety to result in the reduction of accidents and illness, as well as the assurance of regulatory compliance. The Safety Coordinator is expected to coordinate and manage the day-to-day activities related to meeting all safety and health standards established by applicable regulation, as well as policies and procedures established internally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish an Environmental, Health and Safety presence within the facility while walking the floor and providing support.

  • Ensure daily/monthly safety topics and company stretch program are conducted

  • Perform monthly facility environmental health and safety inspections

  • Provide revisions to production methods and employee activity that does not meet health and safety codes

  • Coach employees in safety procedures

  • Evaluate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE

  • Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment

  • Oversee Behavior Based / Observation Safety Programs

  • Review Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) as needed.

  • Follow Fall Protection Program and ensure all fall protection equipment in good working order and inspections are complete

  • Assist in administering and maintaining compliance programs such as Lock out tag out (LOTO), Evacuation Action Plan (EAP), Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), PIT operations etc.

  • Work in conjunction with Facilities to ensure equipment is functioning properly and ensure defective equipment is put out of service

  • Train and certify employees on PIT operations

Qualifications

Core Competencies, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • 2+ years’ experience in general safety and coordinating multiple facilities.

  • Must have High School Diploma

  • Forklift Train the Trainer Certification is a plus

  • First Aid/AED/CPR Certified is a plus

  • Capable of multitasking and working to demanding deadlines

  • Make decisions and be a self-starter

  • Proficient in the English language (Read, write, and speak) Spanish is a plus

  • Professional, punctual, and possess strong communications skills.

Work Environment

  • Experience working in logistics environments, warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution center services

  • Able to work in an industrial environment that requires walking up to five miles a day and ability to lift 20 pounds

  • Ability to work first, second, or split shifts. Must have ability to work a flexible schedule and rotate between shifts as support needs dictate

  • Willing to work overtime and special events when necessary

  • Able to travel between locations in our network
