The function of this position is to research and resolve technical related problems stemming from manufacture quality, engineering shortcomings, manufacturing defects, assembly line workmanship, misapplication as well as general reliability, durability or other operation issues. Using various proven problem solving processes and working with manufacture's engineering groups and related resources, this position will assemble team (s) to bring about permanent corrective actions. Once established, coordinate the corrective actions necessary to mitigate problems identified.

Manage Tech Desk (includes managing vendor representatives and automated call distribution system): Responsible for receiving calls, generating the problem reports, assignment of the report to Ryder or vendor managers for resolution, follow-up to ensure timely resolutions to the problem, problem support escalation
Analysis of Maintenance Data: Responsible for running reports from InfoCenter (our database of vehicle specifications and failure data) for the purpose of identifying high cost areas, performing high level statistical analysis and supplying the information to Service Support Manager for root cause analysis and implementation of corrective measures.
Manage Technical Library: Ensure that all of the service, diagnostic and repair manuals for ryder's fleet are current and available for TAC. This is done by understanding the composition of the fleet and the types of information available from all suppliers as well as obtaining the necessary copies of the information for the library and SSM
Manage Safety Campaign Process: Responsible for reviewing manufacturer recalls for: Applicability, special tooling needs & availability, availability of required parts, conflicts with Ryder policies
Manage Service Bay Tool Tracking Program: Responsible for developing, maintaining a database which records and tracks all Service Bay diagnostic tools within the maintenance organization
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
Seven (7) years or more experience Ryder technical experience, i.e. CSM, STL, SSL, HQ maintenance
Ten (10) years or more experience Heavy duty vehicle maintenance
Two (2) years or more experience Proven track record with maintenance management experience

Requires strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Vehicle Diagnostic Software; advanced level.
Strong business and presentation knowledge. Requires excellent technical writing knowledge; advanced level.
Exposure to Lean Six sigma or 8D software problem solving ; beginner level; preferred.
Material Failure Analysis training (preferred but not required); beginner level; preferred.
Knowledge of Ryder's SMO and Shop Systems. Must have sound understanding of Ryder's repair policies ; advanced level; preferred.
A solid understanding of InfoCenter, SBT, SMS and mainframe ; advanced level.
Must be familiar with vehicle systems, diagnosis and repair procedures; intermediate level.
ASE Certification\Medium-Heavy Truck Certification Tests (T Series) (None, required).
PM, Brakes, A/C, Electrical, Electronics (None, required).
ASE Certification\Alternate Fuels Certification Test (F1) (None, required).
Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist Certification Test (L2) (None, required).
