Ryder System Senior Logistics Engineer in NOVI, Michigan

Position Description

The Senior Logistics Engineer – specialized in Shuttle Planning is responsible for analysis and utilization of continuous improvement tools to design Inbound Supply Chain Solutions in current and future networks.

  • This position supports Network Engineering for multiple GM Facilities with the focus on Cube utilization, cost savings, launch management and cost management

  • Network Engineering Experience required

  • Experience with the carrier contractual processes required

  • Ability to cross international borders to support assigned plants

  • Preferred Experience working with Automotive Shuttle Networks (Production Pull System, Crossdock and Sequenced)

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Planning and managing logistics in conjunction with warehouse, supplier and carrier requirements

  • Acting as Liaison and negotiating with Internal and External Customers and Suppliers

  • Includes Optimizing and coordinating full order cycles, evaluating Customer Shuttle Network, identifying and implementing cost reduction strategies

  • Develop new Shuttle Operating plan for all production changes and launches

Responsibilities:

  • Collects data and performs statistical analysis

  • Maps and documents processes

  • Recommends and implements process improvement

  • Applies company methodologies and tools to design transportation operations

  • Establishes performance measures

  • Assists in communications with internal and external customers to understand business requirements

  • Supports business development and helps create efficient designs and solutions processes

  • Determines efficient utilization of resources by analyzing driver and equipment utilization charts

  • Assists the Operations

  • Managers to implement efficient and competitive solutions

  • Applies various Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Logistics, Management, or Industrial Engineering or 8 (eight) years of equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 3 (three) years of related experience

  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Word such as keyboard short cuts, creating macros, merge, merge queries, templates, table techniques, and working with images and text

  • Advanced Level skills in MS Excel such as working with formulas, data tables, pivot Charts, queries, custom functions, data management and analysis

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred

  • American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS) Certification is preferred

  • Mapping analysis tools, preferred

  • Visual Basic Admin. (VBA) / Sequential Query Language (SQL)

  • Assists in the development and delivery of presentations to customers as part of the sales team effort
