Ryder System Experience Design Lead in NOVI, Michigan
The Experience Design Lead is responsible for supporting our cross-functional efforts to bring next-generation digital experiences to support the transformation of Ryder logistics. This seasoned core designer will use his/her user experience craft to manage & lead these efforts by focusing on the needs of the customer & building solutions to grow our technologies.
We are looking for a seasoned core Experience designer who is t-shaped at heart with a deep expertise and know-how of the user experience craft, but is ready to manage and lead the way. This person will focus on the needs of the customer and build our solutions as we grow in forthcoming technologies. You have the precision of a researcher, the logic of an engineer, and perspective of a designer to illustrate the broader systemic experience. You are driven, collaborative, and excited about solving interesting, sophisticated, and unique problems and able to succeed in a collaborative environment. The Experience Lead will drive various experiences focused on the intersection of human behavior and technology (client-based or proactive internal initiatives) alongside a multi-disciplinary team comprising of other designers, researchers, digital product managers, and technologists. This candidate will execute on the design thinking process for clients creating usable, loveable, and feasible human-centered experiences that solve an unmet opportunity.
The Experience Lead must thrive within a lean-matrixed, entrepreneurial environment. Success requires exceptional organization and interpersonal skills, along with an ability to creatively investigate the underlying symptoms of our biggest problems and collaboratively create solutions that bring user and business benefit.
Bachelor's degree HCI, Cognitive Science, UX, Fine Art, Visual Communication or related degree
Master's degree HCI, Cognitive Science, UX, Fine Art, Visual Communication or related degree preferred
Five (5) years or more hands-on user experience, HCI or interaction design experience across a variety of industries & challenges
Eight (8) years or more Digital (mobile, web, kiosk, tablet) & physical (environments, collateral) experience preferred
Design thinking and agile methodology (Advanced level) preferred
Design impactful user experiences based on the definition of customer needs & the creation of personas, storyboards & user flows, user requirement specifications, including scenarios, task analysis, flowcharts, organization, navigation models, detailed wireframes & other tools as necessary to effectively communicate the user experience & user interface/interaction elements
Execute various user research efforts, both primary & secondary, to form the ultimate user experience strategy & ensure experiences are built with solid set human-centered foundations
Represent and drive the end-user experience with our developers and/or partners and be a relentless advocate for the user throughout the build phase
Articulate user experiences through prototypes, bringing them to life in a rapid, iterative fashion, using Agile & Customer Centric practices
Lead design thinking efforts using iterative design techniques such as observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing & other forms of qualitative & quantitative research to uncover insights, learn about user behavior & verify design concepts
Ability and desire to collaborate and work as part of a cross-functional team to help evaluate & assess the user, business & technical goals & needs
Ability to continuously deliver on deliverables and expectations, including evolving the team’s knowledge around the latest UI/UX tools and best practices
Perform other duties as assigned
