Ryder System Supply Chain Engineer II in NAPERVILLE, Illinois

Position Description

This Supply Chain Engineer II is part of a newly established 4PL/LLP services team focused on a single client that has recently grown through multiple acquisitions. The Team is charged with exciting challenge of understanding and documenting current logistics operations processes, systems and resources, as well as designing and implementing improvements for the future.

This is a dynamic position! The Supply Chain Engineer II will be involved in multiple projects and requires the individual to be adaptable in a fluctuating environment.

Key Deliverables Include:

  • Creating documented Process Maps and Standard Operating Procedures

  • Establishing and standardizing short and long term metrics and KPIs

  • Developing the tools to capture and distribute metrics and KPIs

  • Identifying and documenting savings opportunities, which transition into formalized projects

  • Winning the organizational support to drive change for the customer


  • 2+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation

  • Competency in Analysis, Data Collection, Process Flow Writing, and SOPs

  • Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain processes

  • Experience in Transportation & Warehousing


  • Drafting Process Flows and SOPs (to be reviewed and published)

  • Data collection, Data cleansing, and documentation

  • Cursory review of data files to prepare for stakeholder discussions.

  • Collaboration across cross-functional teams, both internal and external

  • Updates project plans and other tools as required/defined by Solution Engineer

  • Competency in MS tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)


  • Bachelors degree required in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain or a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience

  • Minimum of two years of related experience is required


  • MBA and/or Industrial Engineering Masters Degree preferred

  • Demonstrated proficiency in: MS Office MS Project and/or AutoCAD Visio


  • Collects data and performs statistical analysis Maps and documents processes

  • Recommends continuous improvement opportunities

  • Works with other team members to develop alternative solutions

  • Conducts transportation/ logistics studies and/or time studies to develop standards
