Ryder System Electric Forklift Mechanic - CPG Maintenance in Milton, Pennsylvania

Position Description

  • Works under moderate supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor

  • Performs routine PIT repairs: forklifts (Yale and Hyster), pallet jacks, material handling equipment

  • Responsible for all aspects of good working mechanical equipment which includes but is not limited to: testing, overhauling, adjusting, repairing, replacing parts, and painting

  • Must be able to use hoists and power tools

  • Requires a thorough knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical- including electronic principles, maintenance, lighting, battery repair, minor diesel repair, and ignition on all types of equipment operated by the Company

  • Maintains PIT and AGV batteries and related equipment

  • Performs routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) and maintains records of repairs

  • When required, provides training that includes aspects of safety/quality/sanitation/efficiency of PIT for Warehouse Operators

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervision, overtime as needed

  • Must have own set of base tools

$24.17 per hour


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong background in maintenance repair and preventative maintenance programs

  • Good organizational, communication, and planning skills

  • Basic computer and parts inventory system skills

  • Aptitude to investigate and problem-solve various mechanical issues


  • Complete all routine lubrications, repairs and trouble shooting tasks of mechanical warehouse equipment

  • Assist and monitor all work being performed by outside contractors

  • Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations

  • Schedule and complete preventative maintenance procedures

  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, state and federal guidelines

  • Monitor and maintain grounds and building systems

  • Depending on location, employee may be required to operate equipment and may be required to be equipment certified

  • Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined
