The ideal Sales Tax Analyst will be a strategic and creative professional who enjoys using technology to solve complex tax problems. The position requires the use of technology to extract, analyze and organize data into a format that will support positions for tax refunds, document reasons that are causing inaccurate tax calculations, and work with IT and other teams to correct system issues.
REMOTE WORK FROM HOME
Implement and utilize technology needed to analyze sales and purchase transactions to drive better performance and solve business problems.
Work with the Manager to research and analyze sales and use tax rules applicable to Ryder’s industries to identify sales and use tax recovery opportunities.
Communicate inconsistent or incorrect application of tax rules to the Manager. Suggest process improvements and work with IT and other teams to lead implementation process improvements.
Work with the Manager to research and analyze a wide range of sales and use tax issues to respond to customer’s questions and improve the customer experience.
Assist Manager with gathering data needed for governmental sales and use tax audit defense.
Review sales and use tax matrix to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions for all Ryder entities.
- Perform special projects and other duties as requested.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business required
Vocational or Technical Certification – Data Analytics Certification a plus
Vocational or Technical Certification – CPA a plus
5 years or more of experience in a large corporate tax or a CPA firm environment
3 years or more of experience in US multistate sales and use tax
3 years or more of experience in Canada GST/HST/PST/QST
3 years or more of experience in a highly technical role that used data analytics software
some exposure to sales and use tax research and audits
Excellent computer/technology/data mining skills
Excellent research and analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn fast, work efficiently and independently, complete projects and exercise professional judgement to make sound decisions
Intermediate knowledge of US multistate and Canada sales and use tax rules required
Intermediate experience with data analytics software like Alteryx or similar product required
Knowledge of accounting systems such as Workday preferred
Experience with tax software (Onesource, Vertex) preferred

The salary for this position ranges from $53K to $65K.
