The Supervisor Security will be responsible for the following: Supervision of security staff for the safety and protection of all Ryder personnel at the HQ building. Ensure that access control is maintained at all times. Develop security procedures to be adhered to by security staff. Ensure that equipment pertinent to the security operation is serviced and maintained and in operable condition. Purchase tools pertinent to the operation of the security department at the HQ building and ensure billing is correct. Present in and responsible for the building when Hurricane Warnings are issued and informs the Director of Security and the Facilities Manager of the condition of the HQ building.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises Security Staff

  • Reviews daily logs

  • Develops security procedures

  • Evaluates new equipment, techniques and products

  • Programs Honeywell Delta 1000 and Xerox 820-II

  • Trains staff on equipment and procedures

  • Purchases materials for operation of department

  • Investigates reported thefts and security violations and contacts employees and/or visitors regarding infractions of security procedures or regulations.

  • Respond to emergency medical situations

  • Knowledge in Lenel and Milestone platforms a plus. This is the access control system that we use to control doors/badge readers, view/pull reports, create ID badges.

  • Provide backup for the switchboard operators. Breaks, vacations, and sick time.

  • Be an extension to the facilities dept. Backing up the facility manager when he’s unavailable with personnel, communicating with contractors, management.

  • Being available to stay onsite during hurricanes/emergencies.

  • Project planning. Replacing/adding camera hardware, repairs, new projects.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point a plus.

Additional Responsibilities

  • This position is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Subject to being called into headquarters at any time to handle emergency or unusual situations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills

  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices


  • H.S. diploma/GED required

  • Associate's degree preferred in related field

  • Five (5) years or more experience in Security or Law Enforcement required

  • Three (3) years or more spent at supervisor or above level required

  • Law Enforcement School Certification
