Ryder System Intern - API Developer in MIAMI, Florida

Position Description

THe Intern .NET API Developer will be responsible for the programming of REST APIs following best standards and practices set by Enterprise Integration Services. Developer will work closely with the Technical Lead and other developers to learn more about the tools and design patterns being implemented, and the specific programming language being utilized. With guidance from the team, the developer will get an opportunity to build their own APIs, as well as enhance existing APIs.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science (at least in progress) preferred

  • One (1) year or more experience in Object-Oriented Programming Language

  • One (1) year or more experience in Data Structures and Algorithms

  • One (1) year or more experience in Software Engineering / Computer Programming

  • One (1) year or more experience in Web/API Development preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to:

  • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)

  • Work independently and as a member of a team

  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills

  • Detailed oriented with excellent follow-up practices

  • Experience with.NET tools and frameworks; beginner level; preferred

  • Knowledge with Visual Studio and TFS tools such as the basics of the Microsoft.NET Framework, the basics of designing a.NET-connected solution, Web based applications, Microsoft Windows-based applications and Web services. Experience with Azure VSTS a plus (beginner level) preferred

  • Knowledge of RESTful API standards and protocols; beginner level; preferred

  • Understanding of relational database concepts such as object-oriented data modeling advanced relational features, SML and databases, object-oriented databases and object-relational databases (beginner level) preferred

  • Experience with software testing techniques. Experience with Test-Driven Development standards and practices. Experience with integration and acceptance testing (beginner level) preferred

  • Experience programming in an Object-Oriented programming language (intermediate level)

Responsibilities

  • Program APIs while adhering to Ryder API software development process, leveraging established standards and best practices

  • Participate in code review sessions

  • Participate in detail software design leveraging Ryder API standards and best practices. Create software test plans following Test Driven Development standards

  • Report status to team leader

  • Performs other duties as assigned
