Summary

The Senior Manager Rental Operations position is responsible for leading a $25 million rental unit to overall profitability and growth of the rental product line. The MOR will be responsible for leading and developing approximately 30-50 employees. This position reports directly to the Director of Rental. This position will directly manage all Rental personnel including; Rental Managers, Rental Account Managers, Branch Rental Manager, Rental Counter Supervisors, Management Trainees, Rental Sales Representatives and Sr. Rental Sales Representatives. Each DOR will have approximately 6-8 Rental Managers reporting directly to them. The MOR will have a proven track record in the following areas; Successfully Managing People, Leading a Team, Sales and Marketing, Sales Management and Execution, Achieving Financial Goals, Operations and Fleet Management, Customer Retention and Development and Communication This position owns the entire rental product line for their assigned business unit and is the bench strength for the future potential for the Director of Rental.

Essential Functions

  • Direct, manage and develop a multi-level sales force capable of developing, growing and retaining accounts in the areas of national rental services, insurance and commercial business to ensure the achievement of sales and retention goals

  • Plan, organize, direct and provide leadership to achieve the short and long term business growth and retention objectives

  • Ensure the delivery of Ryder's value proposition to customers and prospects through direct interaction with financial executives and the development and implementation of strategic and tactical marketing initiatives for assigned territory

  • Provide strategic direction and develop and lead the execution of processes and sales activities designed to retain and grow current customers and react to market changes proactively

  • Interface with Ryder's customers and prospects to ensure the maximum development of opportunities associated with the lull breadth of Ryder's products and services

  • Ensure knowledge of competitor's strengths and weaknesses and manage execution of competitive strategy

  • Ensure focus on, and consistent execution around, Ryder initiatives to grow and retain business and exceed customer expectations

  • Provide sales functional leadership and expertise for assigned territory

  • Assist in selecting, training, and developing high caliber sales professionals for continued superior sales team and generating future bench strength

  • Provide leadership, oversight, direction and compliance around sales activities such as blitz's and customer appreciation days

  • Maintain competitive awareness and market pricing and by establishing and enforcing authority guidelines/limits for pricing

  • Directly responsible for National Rental quota attainment

  • Ensure collaboration with lease sales force through effective relationships with functional counterparts

  • Directly responsible for maintaining compliance with company, local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies

  • Responsible for the overall development and guidance of employees to meet revenue and margin goals

  • Oversee customer concerns, issues, disputes in order to maintain the ongoing relationship

  • Develop and maintain relationships with several key customers within the assigned area

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration or related field

  • Master's degree preferred in Business Administration or related field

  • Eight (8) years or more of related experience can be substituted for the Bachelors degree required

  • Seven (7) years or more of industry sales or sales management
