Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing the accounting activities of Ryder ecommerce by Whiplash, including compliance of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley and supporting financial audits, project accounting, and tax matters with Ryder’s Corporate team. Monthly, recurring responsibilities will include reviewing accounting accruals and journal entries during the monthly close, bank cash and general ledger account reconciliations, tracking reserves and fixed asset management.
* REMOTE work from HOME but must reside in a Pacific Time Zone*
Essential Functions
Implement and provide technical / business guidance on new GAAP (ie. revenue recognition, lease accounting)Prepare and analyze the segments balance sheets and income statements
Interact with various groups in the Company, including Operations, to establish and/or clarify accounting policies in accordance with GAAP/Company policy
Identify and solve accounting and business issues as they arise
Oversee regulatory compliance and filings
Establish internal control procedures for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
Ensure accounting controls are maintained and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures through regular performance reviews, identifications of control gaps and leading any necessary remediation efforts
Support Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable departments
Prepare, analyze and present the segments financial results on a quarterly basis to senior management
Participate in special projects
Additional responsibilities as required
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in accounting.
Master's degree accounting/finance preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Ten (10) years or more experience in accounting
SKILLS
Excellent analytical, communication (written and oral), organizational and research skills
Ability to manage multiple projects
Ability to interact with senior management
Excellent organizational skills
KNOWLEDGE
Technical knowledge of GAAP; advanced level
Knowledge of MS Office advanced
LICENSES
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (Upon Hire, required).
