Porter/ Lot Attendant (Used Truck Center)

Job Summary

The Porter, or Lot Attendant, for our Used Vehicle Services division will be responsible for delivering Ryder's quality, value, & standards to our prospective customers/buyers. This individual will be primarily responsible for pre-inspecting vehicles before the customer(s) take delivery of their purchase. He or she will also be taking scheduled vehicles for test rides as part of our scheduled Used Vehicle Services exercise program to ensure all vehicles meet our high standard and are ready for sale with no issues. This position has a structured schedule and may require additional assistance depending upon appointments.

Essential Functions

  • Exercises used vehicles on Ryder property to assure vehicles are road ready: Check for leaks, visual inspections, and check for minor mechanical malfunctions

  • Makes recommendations and complete minor repairs and adjustments on Ryder’s Used Vehicles

  • Records findings and data in variety of Ryder’s systems, and report them to Vehicle Sales Manager

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work flexible hours including shift work, weekends, holidays and possibly in different locations

Qualifications

  • H.S. diploma/GED required

  • One (1) year or more mechanical and/or customer service required

  • Two (2) years or more demonstrated mechanical experience/aptitude preferred

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet Ryder’s driving qualifications
