Ryder System Senior Application Developer - Remote in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Summary

In the Application Developer IV role on the RyderShip team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software used to enable our ecommerce customers’ abilities to receive products in a RyderShip warehouse, ship products to their customers from those warehouses, and manage additional ecommerce related operations.

You will be responsible for maintaining robust and scalable backend systems; and contribute to the growth and evolution of the broader team of developers. You will work closely with other development teams, product teams, operations teams, and external partners to deliver enterprise-quality software solutions that meet business requirements and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Essential Functions

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level integrations that provide additional functionality to our core app.

  • Test the application using various testing strategies like Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and Smoke Testing to ensure everything works before handing off build to the QA Team. Support defect resolution from user and QA testing.

  • Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues, per duty roster with a root-cause/corrective action mindset. Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.

  • Collaborate with your team to determine the work that needs to be done, refine that work, and prioritize based on the team’s and business’ needs

  • Collaborate with other developers, designers, and product owners to ensure seamless integration and optimal user experience.

  • Mentor and guide other developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and maintain technical specifications and design documentation; including but not limited to solution diagrams, flowcharts, checklists, migration plans, and core solution documentation for posterity.

  • Provide comprehensive support to internal customers and peers to achieve resolution to outstanding problems and/or issues.

  • Monitor application health by establishing dashboards and alerts.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to collect information, detect patterns, brainstorm, interpret data, integrate new information, and theorize to problem solve and make decisions.

  • Ability to be comfortable and effective with issues that lack clarity, structure or certainty. We expect you to help bring clarity to things that may lack it.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly when it comes to communicating technical concepts and ideas.

  • Possess a high degree of initiative and autonomy.

  • A strong competency and experience with at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript

  • An elevated level of ownership. You should be invested in the team's work, not just your part of it.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Computer Engineering or related field

  • Master's degree preferred in Computer Science or related field

  • Three (3) years or more Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology preferred

  • Seven (7) years or more Software Development required

Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc.

Compensation ranges for the position are below:

Pay Type :

Salaried

Minimum Pay Range:

$115,000.00

Maximum Pay Range:

$125,000.00

The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type.
