Summary

  • The Group Manager Logistics II – Assets is typically responsible for multiple locations for one large customer or multiple customer accounts with approximately 1,000 power units and 4,000 trailers. It includes the management and improvement of services provided to the customer(s), as well as the development and implementation of customer performance measurements. May assist with business development initiatives and new locations startups. This position has profit and loss responsibility for assigned account(s).

  • All work is subject to review by the DCL and Ryder Corporate Process Owners such as Finance, Human Resources, Safety, etc. Error could result in customer dissatisfaction, loss of profit, safety or security incident.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and/or solve operational issues with the account(s) by implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, to strengthen team unity, goals, productivity and results.

  • Ensure financial objectives are met

  • Supervise, develop and manage performance for assigned employees and maintain a positive employee relations environment at assigned account(s).

  • Hire, train, guide and supervise LMs, SLMs and/or GLMs to meet the requirements of the positions within the account(s).

  • Manage the profit and loss statements for assigned account(s).

  • Monitor and manage fleet size to minimize idle equipment

  • Ensure correct mix of fleet

  • Create unit-level action plans during the Asset Reviews to drive improved financial performance

  • Over mileage units for re-rate opportunities

  • Excessive running and fixed costs

  • Low margins

  • Collaborate with FMS to resolve break-down issues and improve equipment uptime and vehicle maintenance

  • Review of all units prior to lease term expiration to determine remaining life and appropriate action plan, lease extension, re-deployment, out service or immediate pre-sale opportunity

  • Communicate the Capital Expenditure requirement for the future budget cycle

  • Manage the In-Service process by tracking damage repair and executing a seamless swap with FMS

  • Determine vehicle actions for all units at the end of the unit's life to extend, replace or return to FMS

  • Collaborate with FMS Sales to determine the proper vehicle specification needed for the application

  • Review and approve vehicle specification prior to executing a Deal Summary

  • Review the Deal Summary for reasonableness, accuracy and timing

Essential Functions

  • Manage one or more customer account(s) to meet established metrics and performance expectations. Manage the customer relationship and identify potential opportunities for business growth.

  • Ensure financial objectives are met and grow revenue for assigned account(s).

  • Supervise, develop and manage performance for assigned employees and maintain a positive employee relations environment at assigned account(s).

  • Hire, train, supervise, and coach/mentor direct reports and management team.

  • Maintain a proactive safety program within the account(s) consistent with company policy in order to provide a safe and secure work environment.

  • Manage the profit and loss statements for assigned account(s) and implement actions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in business, logistics, supply chain or a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Eight (8) years or more in supply chain, logistics, warehouse or industry related field required

  • Five (5) years or more supervisory experience required

  • Experience providing customer and senior level management presentations preferred

  • Four (4) years or more Profit and Loss experience preferred

  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing complete logistics solutions and project management skills required

  • Three (3) years or more customer interaction required

  • Prior experience in leading teams in a LEAN work environment is preferred
