Ryder is immediately hiring permanent full time Yard Drivers in Cornwall, ON

Positions Pay Weekly

Great Hourly Pay $24.35 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

We want the right Yard Drivers to join us at Ryder and work in the Safest Environment with State of the Art Equipment

Products Being Handled: Tires

Valid CDL Required

Experience operating yard equipment required (Ottawa Yard Truck)

Summary

The Spotter I is primarily responsible for safety handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard and within a local area. The position requires compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service. Incumbent must be at least 22 years of age.

Essential Functions

  • Primarily responsible for safely handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard and within a local area

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and/or State laws, regulations and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines

  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards

  • Maintaining accurate records and logs

  • Maintaining accurate move and yard inventory records

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and/or listen and understand information and ideas communicated

  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures

  • Ability to meet Ryder's driving qualifications

  • Ability to read and/or listen and understand information and ideas communicated

  • Ability to follow directions

  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)

  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills

Qualifications

  • H.S. diploma/GED preferred General H.S. subjects

  • One (1) year or more verifiable driving experience required

  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A
