The Director Value Engineering (DVE) will be responsible for driving the implementation and management of Ryder’s pricing and sales strategy for software products. The DVE will work closely with the sales team to help develop, accelerate, and close sales opportunities, while maximizing customer value from our software products.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the pricing strategy of software products based on economic value, willingness to pay, competition, and go-to-market strategy

  • Act as business value specialist for sales team to work with qualified opportunities to deliver a consultative value-centric sales approach centered around justifying investment in Ryder software solutions via a value-driven, industry-specific, articulation of benefits.

  • Proactively work with the sales, solutions team, finance, and customer success stakeholders to drive demand for Value Engineering engagements

  • Develop solution, use case, and capability-oriented value propositions and business/ROI cases for prospects and customers, based around the implementation and use of Ryder software products

  • Conducts primary and secondary market research to develop competitor analysis and evolve value proposition. Creates and maintains analytical models and tools to project and support pricing initiatives and ancillary offerings

  • Creates and maintains a competitive database of past opportunities and outcomes to optimize future pricing

  • Researches and tracks competitor pricing and market trends

  • Ensures education and product training for all Supply Chain and Dedicated Transportation sales professionals

  • Supports Executive team by providing a ready source of informal data regarding sales trends and activities reflected by pricing activity

Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to create and defend business cases for investments in software, technology, services, and business change.

  • Demonstrable strengths in numerical, financial, and cross-industry operating model knowledge.

  • A proven ability to present to, communicate, and persuade at a Director, VP, and C-level level, whilst still retaining the ability to communicate, interview, and present at a practitioner or departmental manager level as required. Storytelling and design thinking experience would be a benefit.

  • A recent background in Value Engineering, or a relevant software pricing role, or consulting work.

  • Be familiar and skilled with graphics & presentation software, Microsoft PowerPoint specifically, to create impactful presentations.

  • Be familiar and skilled with spreadsheet software, Microsoft Excel specifically, to create business cases and impact assessments.

  • Ability to explain customer experience-related business case concepts to both technical and non-technical (finance, marketing & sales) audiences.


  • Bachelor's degree required Finance, Marketing Analytics, Strategic Consulting or 10+ years related work experience. Demonstrated success in a Ryder role may be substituted for this requirement

  • Master's Degree - preferred

  • Seven (7) years or more years within value engineering, marketing, pricing, strategy consulting- required

  • Three (3) or more years of Pricing - required
