Ryder System Quality Manager II in COLUMBUS, Ohio

Position Description

Responsible for day to day administration of the quality management system on account(s) of higher complexity including adherence to company and industry standards. Coordinate and lead continuous improvement activities as needed. Provide regular and proactive communication to customers and Ryder Management.

Additional Details & Preferred Skillset:

  • Experience managing quality systems to FDA 21, CFR 820, ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and environmental management systems to ISO 14001

  • Will lead a Quality Assurance team of approximately 25 inspectors and leads for packaging and warehousing operations

  • ASQ Certified Quality Manager preferred

  • Experience leading regulatory audits (FDA, FDB, EPA)

  • Experience working in a medical device, drug, food or other FDA regulated environment


  • Bachelors required in Business/Engineering/Supply Chain or a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of quality management/process improvement or 9 years of operations management experience

  • ISO 9001 certification experience required if applicable to account

  • Proficiency required in MS Office


  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred, attainment is required within 12 months

  • Experience in MS Project, Internal Audit/Corrective Action Systems Software (e.g. JKT), & Lotus Notes preferred

  • Process Mapping and Standard Operating Procedures documentation and project management experience preferred

  • ASQ's Certified Quality Auditor preferred


  • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain the Quality Management System including documentation and records based on internal & external standards/regulations

  • Coordinate and lead continuous improvement activities using fundamentals of lean and six sigma, as needed

  • Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining Customer Satisfaction Management and Scope Management processes

  • Perform all functions related to Quality Assurance for a start-up or expansion

  • Engage the operations team and the customer to ensure achievement of business objectives

  • Design, implement and monitor the system for the effective collection, analysis and presentation of non-conformity data

  • Design the reports to review effectiveness of the Quality Management System

  • Establish agenda and frequency, and lead of the regular Management Review meetings

  • Identify location training needs for quality assurance topics, develop the training materials, and deliver to identified employees
