This is a senior level operations position responsible for Parcel Delivery Services at Ryder. Ryder will be offering Parcel Delivery as a new product. Part of the responsibility of this role will be to develop and scale the Parcel Delivery product offering. Ryder is looking for candidates that have strategic and operational experience in the parcel industry and are knowledgeable on recent parcel trends tied to ecommerce and COVID.

The ideal candidate for this role will be innovative, highly motivated, and analytical with strong business judgment and a talent for leading teams in an ambiguous space. The candidate will have end-to-end ownership and responsibility for identifying customer needs for the product, developing the product, and standing up the Parcel Delivery operation to start to provide this offering to existing and new customers. The candidate will have P&L responsibility and overall product ownership for Ryder’s future Parcel Delivery Service offering.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the go to market strategy, vision and roadmap for the Parcel Delivery service

  • Design, Develop and Deploy a product that will meet the needs of our Customers

  • Own reporting and communication to senior leaders across Ryder on this new product

  • Lead investment, prioritization and trade off discussions

  • Identify and measure product and business metrics to drive improvements and better understand our customers’ needs

  • Set up the Parcel Delivery operation

  • Manage and develop a high performing team of operators to report to you and manage the day to day Parcel Delivery operation

  • Define and create processes that will scale to meet the growing business demands

  • Partner with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Product Strategy, I.T., Finance and other key leaders across the organization

  • Deliver exceptional Customer Service through on time delivery and post ship service levels

  • Drive continuous improvement across Operations by championing efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures

  • Responsible for creating a culture of care and collaboration within the site.

  • Adjust departments’ activities, policies and practices to meet or exceed key performance metrics and customer service level goals and on-time deliveries.

  • Oversees operating budget management including labor, benefits, supplies, company assets, capital investments, depreciation, maintenance and repair, and third-party contracts.

  • Performs management functions of staff selection, compensation, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations.

  • Creates a safety culture by setting direction to reduce or eliminate operations-related injuries or accidents, damage/loss of product or equipment, and unnecessary costs by ensuring that all equipment and facilities are maintained consistent with the safety, security, sanitation and appearance standards set by Ryder

  • Provides assistance in the solicitation of new or prospective business by participating in company meetings and presentations when necessary, and in other market area activities to develop and foster the company’s recognition within the business community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in business, logistics, transportation management or related field

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years experience in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management required

  • Prior experience making customer and senior level management presentations required

  • Demonstrated experience developing, growing, improving and implementing integrated logistics solutions required

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree and 10+ years’ experience

  • Parcel delivery operations leadership experience

  • Parcel delivery product development experience, nice to have

  • Experience building a compelling vision for a new product/venture/initiative working across diverse stakeholder groups to deliver against this vision.

  • Prior demonstrated results in a high-impact, pioneering operations role

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
