Ryder System Manager Application Development & Support - Remote in Charleston, West Virginia

The IT Application Development Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of technical resources who provide application support and development for Custom Integration Solutions (customized invoicing), GeoTab APIs that are leveraged by several Ryder applications, and the Electric Vehicle (EV) program. The Manager oversees the Scrum teams responsible for the development and support of the application in these portfolios. This role manages a team with skills in various technologies including but not limited to: .NET, Azure, API development, SQL, GeoTab platform, Appian, SharePoint, AS400, and other technologies.

Additionally, the Manager is accountable for working collaboratively with the Product Owners in fulfilling the overall vision of the products, as well as managing customer expectations, and ensuring process adherence that results in timely response to user requests for operational or technology improvements, and acts as a user advocate to other internal/external IT teams. This position may be called on to provide a level of project management for single or multiple projects and/or manage vendor relationships with third party service providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • The IT Application Development Manager provides operational leadership, guidance and financial oversight for the IT Application Development team responsible for the solutioning, development, and deployment of business capabilities.

  • Provides technical leadership, sets technical priorities, and removes obstacles for developers.

  • Collaborates with other IT teams to deliver innovative solutions.

  • Interacts with business management and end users, establishing relationships with key individuals.

  • Oversees the system applications in an assigned area to ensure security compliance and optimum performance.

  • Ensures the success of new development efforts, enhancements and efficiency of existing system applications.

  • Participates in solution design, including integration efforts, and collaborates with the Solution Architect.

  • Works closely with the Product Owners and the team on Sprint activities, and provides recommendations on refining or splitting user stories.

  • Ensures all development projects are within scope, budget, objectives, schedules and resources for the respective group.

  • Achieves accuracy, quality, timeliness and user satisfaction by managing the prescribed software development life cycle.

  • Works with management on strategic planning, identifying new systems applications projects and establishing priorities.

  • Responsible for the establishment and support of the applications development environment, including but not limited to methodology, standards, tools, performance criteria and design principles.

  • Enhances operating efficiencies and metrics, improves customer satisfaction and improves financial performance.

  • Coaches and counsels employees on performance, sets performance standards, recommends pay actions and responsible for other HR actions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Business Management, Engineering or related field.

Master's degree MBA a plus preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Seven (7) years or more experience Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible, comprehensive experience in Application Development and IT Project Management.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of full software development life cycle; expert level.

  • Extensive technical and professional knowledge; expert level.

  • In-depth knowledge of Agile/SCRUM framework and working experience in the traditional SCRUM ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Demos, and Sprint Retrospectives along with the corresponding tools used to managed the process; expert level.

  • Extensive experience in developing applications with several technologies including; .Net, SOA architecture, SOAP/REST, SQL Server, Responsive UI frameworks.

  • Extensive experience in web application development and support.

  • Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.

  • Awareness of programming standards and protocols; intermediate level.

  • Excellent knowledge of program coding techniques, file access methods, testing techniques and documentation methods; advanced level.

  • Knowledge of architecture and infrastructure required to support Mainframe applications; intermediate level.

Salary is determined based on internal equity; internal salary ranges; market

data/ranges; applicant’s skills; prior relevant experience; certain degrees or

certifications, etc.

The salary for this position ranges from $125,000.00 to $135,000.00.

Employees may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, as applicable. Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc.

Compensation ranges for the position are below:

Pay Type :

Salaried

Minimum Pay Range:

$125,000.00

Maximum Pay Range:

$135,000.00

The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type.
