JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for driving all aspects of portfolio planning and execution for a defined portfolio of work. This critical leadership role within the Delivery Management team will work closely with dedicated Release Train Engineers (RTEs), program managers, project managers, and the technology/business leaders over established product and value streams. The primary objective is to ensure effective portfolio planning, budgeting, transparency, and process discipline/adherence are achieved.

This role will be responsible for establishing and driving consistency across the portfolio; including budget, forecasting, and pipeline management. In addition, full responsibility for managing a team of fixed full time Ryder team members and variable contractors; evaluation, feedback, coaching and development plans of up to 10 team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Have full delivery responsibility for 1-2 smaller projects, accounting for no more than 50% of overall capacity. Primarily in conjunction with ramping up and training jr team members to get them up to speed with Ryder processes, expectations, and best practices.

  • Works closely with Delivery Management, Delivery Enablement, and ATO to drive consistency and pragmatism into processes, systems, and tools used in order to effectively plan, prioritize, and deliver a first class initiative execution process. Framework agnostic, focused on implementing best practices in a cohesive and collaborative manner.

  • Leads annual planning exercises within established portfolio, using Planview, and provides necessary coaching or training (when possible, and in conjunction with ATO or Enablement) to all key participants; including IT owners, Product Managers, Finance, and Sr Leadership. Aggregates and compiles information, at the appropriate level to convey current state, and drive alignment across all necessary parties.

  • Drives necessary common practices across the portfolio including forecasting, budget reviews and overall status reports. Ensure common experience and consumable templates/reports are created and used to provide the right level of detail to various audiences. Knowledge of planview, workday, and insights data will be critical to ensure success.

  • Own, understand, and create a flexible portfolio team comprised of RTEs, enterprise business analysts, and variable team members for unplanned initiatives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts Quality Assurance reviews of all projects taking place within the assigned portfolio

  • Develop executive-level presentations, strategic proposals, tool set request for capital, program updates

  • Defines future team structure and needs for approved strategy to be successfully implemented

  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, Technology or a relevant degree

  • Master's degree MBA or Master’s degree

Experience

  • Seven (7) years or more Project Management methodologies

  • Seven (7) years or more in Information Technology or Project Delivery leadership; including supervisory experience

  • Seven (7) years or more influencing and driving change in a matrixed organization

  • Three (3) years or more in Agile Methodologies, Agile Coaching, and Training

  • MS Office including Project, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint expert

  • Deep knowledge of Project Management Methodologies, Frameworks and Tools

  • Experience with PlanView Tool

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP)

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
