The physical work location for this role is located in Bloomfield, CT 06002. The Gate/Yard Checker role requires you have reliable transportation to and from the physical work site. THIS IS NOT REMOTE. You must be able to report to the Bloomfield, CT location to be considered for this position. Pay will start at $20/hr. Schedule: Wednesday 10P-4A Thursday-Saturday 4P-4A

As part of the Ryder team, the Gate/Yard Checker will handle various tasks supporting Ryder’s Transportation Management business vertical. The ideal candidate for this entry-level position would be a detail-oriented problem solver that is able to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment. Essential Functions

  • Complete Yard Checks according to required schedule, this includes recording trailer numbers and current position in a Yard Check Document

  • Data Entry pertaining to Trailers such as Date of Trailer Arriva and Fuel Status of Trailers

  • Verifying, and Recording Trailer Temperatures and Reporting any Non Standard Findings

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills

  • Ability to adjust priorities

  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices

Qualifications

  • H.S. diploma/GED required and 1-3 years experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse or related field

  • Three (3) years or more experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse or related field required

  • Three (3) years or more experience in the trucking Industry preferred
