Position Description:

The IT Product Manager - DM is responsible for leading solution and implementation activities as assigned for the Ryder distribution management technology portfolio. Major activities include solution delivery team management, technical design and documentation, cost estimates, solution configuration, development, and implementation. This position will be required to work closely with extended technology team to deliver competitive and quality distribution management solutions. Significant voice and ownership working with team to develop distribution technology portfolio roadmap and strategy.


  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, supply chain or related degree or equivalent certifications and experience within the field of IT for third party logistics

  • Ten (10) years or more experience in distribution management. Prefer experience in a 3PL/4PL environment

  • Five (5) years or more experience in with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) with specific experience in implementing WMS’s in Ryder portfolio

  • Five (5) years or more experience managing teams in developing solutions for distribution management

  • Three (3) years or more experience in budget creation, tracking, and variance analysis preferred

  • Ability to conceptualize how systems need to be configured and used to solve daily business problems

  • Strong technical skills in the base technologies that support specific WMS’s in the Ryder Portfolio

  • Solid technical understanding and proven ability to leverage technology to meet business objectives

  • Effective leadership skills. Demonstrated high competency in leadership. Ability to drive integrity and instill high performance and accountability from the technology team

  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of industry transportation management technology solutions (advanced level)

  • Familiarity with various technology platforms. Foundational knowledge of both front-end, back-end technologies to include SQL Server, Oracle, Java, Cloud, No SQL db's, etc. (advanced level)

  • Knowledge of project management, industry, and technology trends (intermediate level) preferred



  • Collaborates with business partners, external customers, and other IT functional teams to contribute to the product roadmap. The roadmap is the foundation for prioritization, resource planning, and investment.

  • Continue to develop domain expertise through project experience, attending vendor product council meetings, industry publications/events, and self-learning.

  • Detailed knowledge of the Ryder distribution management platform, features, and technology offerings.

  • Interfaces with product vendors on a regular basis to influence product roadmap, and ensure cost effective quality service levels


  • Daily management of technology delivery staff and resources

  • Contributes to resource planning, scheduling, and forecasting

  • Provides high level management, coaching and mentoring to create an environment which encourages accountability and strong staff development; manage the hiring, training, motivating, and retaining of top talent in the IT field both on site and in remote distribution centers.


  • Translate business needs and objectives into product requirements and provide project estimates

  • Solution documentation, project planning, budget updates and estimates to complete, configuration, development, and implementation services. Drive innovation and creative solutions to business challenges within scope of product functionality, project methodology, delivery execution, and metrics analysis


  • Represent Ryder technology as the DM product subject matter expert in new/existing customer presentation/events

  • Perform product demonstrations and solution training

  • Communication on product capability and assigned project status

  • Contribute to the sales team effort for RFP responses on cost estimates and solution proposals

  • Performs other duties as assigned
