Position Description:

The Inventory Supervisor reports to the General Manager and has overall responsibility for tracking incoming and finished goods materials, packaging supplies, etc. required in the warehousing and distribution of customer products and provides accounting support regarding inventory issues. Reporting to this position are 2-3 cycle counters. The position requires direct involvement with daily operations and future projects to assure activities support facility goals and objectives. The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Assist in supporting that the facility KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) consistently meet/exceed established goals, including but not limited to GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices), safety, quality, productivity, sanitation, and maintenance.

  • Develop and maintain inventory control systems that meet ongoing and future facility needs.

  • Develop and manage the facility cycle count program.

  • Develop and manage the inventory recoup/repack/recycle program.

  • Ensures accounting requirements meet company and customer requirements.

  • Tracks day-to-day facility inventory costs as they affect facility KPI’s and effectively communicates results to appropriate team members.

  • Provide floor support to Operations Supervisors and hourly associates regarding inventory issues.

  • Cross train in the areas performed by the Operations Supervisors.

  • Provide office support to the I/O Coordinators and receiving/shipping office personnel.

  • Actively participate in safety and PIT (Process Improvement Team) program; support the Ryder culture.

  • Actively participates in company functions.

  • Conducts periodic performance evaluations of direct reports.

  • Interview, select, and train associates.

  • Responsible for consistent and fair applications of the company’s employee consultation and attendance program.

  • Weekly verification and sign-off of hourly employees work hours.

  • Maintain daily reports that are established to measure daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s.

  • Ensure daily communications and shift meetings provide the necessary information for employees to do their jobs consistently well while making them feel a real part of the team.

  • Ensure accident investigations, reporting and safety communications are complete, accurate, and timely.

  • Has a positive influence on and assists in the development of employees.

  • Promotes positive customer relationships.

  • Maintains union free environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • H.S. diploma/GED

  • One (1) year or more experience in logistics, warehouse or industry related field required

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms with employees, peers, and management

  • Strong organizational, follow-up, and computer skills required

  • Ability to work self directed with minimal supervision

  • Ability to manage individual performance and employee relations

  • Ability to use sound judgement when information is incomplete or ambiguous

  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (Intermediate level, Preferred )

  • Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) depending on position (Intermediate level)

  • Knowledge of OSHA required; DOT and Hazmat knowledge based on the account (Intermediate level)


  • Lead shift start up meeting to communicate daily/shift goal of facility and work group(s). Devise, communicate, and implement plans to obtain operational goals. Work with and motivate employees to ensure goal achievement. Provide progress or constraint updates to management

  • Hire, train and supervise leads and hourly employees in the assigned work group(s)

  • Provide leadership for employees through in depth training and continuous review of employee understanding of policies, procedures, and processes. Create a productive work environment through effective communication, coaching, motivating, and leading by example

  • Support and aid in the development of system and process training for employees in the work group(s). Perform administrative functions to include tracking of time, attendance, and performance feedback

  • Instruct and enforce location safety management plans, training, and processes

  • Identify and/or solve operational issues with the account(s) by implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, to strengthen team unity, goals, productivity, and results

  • Assign employees to individual tasks and ensure required tools are available

  • Performs other duties as assigned
