Position Description:

The Specialist, Payroll and Billing processes driver payroll, owner operator pay and customer billing, which includes driver trip sheet auditing. This individual performs automated processes in TMW and submits audited payroll for approval. This individual also performs customer billing according to the contractual agreement between Ryder and the customer. S/he communicates with Operations field staff, supervisor and management regarding payroll or billing delays and issues. The Specialist maintains team-member goals to complete weekly payroll and billing duties, demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills, adhering to payroll and billing deadlines, and maintains files for payroll and billing. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

• One or two years of related experience

Position Responsibilities:

• Review trip sheets, wage computations and other information to detect and reconcile payroll and billing discrepancies

• Communicate with field staff, supervisor and management to resolve discrepancies with trip sheets, payroll and billing issues to ensure adherence to payroll and billing deadlines

• Verify attendance, hours worked and pay adjustments and input information into the transportation management system; Issue and record adjustments to driver pay related to previous errors and omissions

• Manage workflow of the assigned payroll and billing team to ensure an accurate and timely submission of the team’s payroll and billing

• Continuously train and maintain an understanding and the ability to process payroll and billing for assigned customers and those of assigned team members

• Maintain a team member focus and flexibility to assist the hub team as needed

• Data entry with attention to detail and accuracy entering alpha-numeric data

• Maintain payroll and billing records which include up to but not limited to organizing and filing

• Continually update supervisor and management regarding payroll and billing changes and issues

• Encourage and implement continuous performance and process improvement measures within the payroll process

• Perform other duties as assigned


  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent

  • A minimum of 1 (one) year of experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse or related field is required for this position

  • Must have experience with DOT compliance and driver routing


  • The candidate must possess excellent written, verbal, organizational and leadership skills and possess strong customer service skills

  • Some computer skills are required and will train on the location's software
